There is no more serious business than show business. (Calm the fuck down)

So this kinda carries on from my last blog post.

A recurring thing that's been happening to me this year.  Playing a gig, getting up on stage and really pounding it out.  A few times I have almost cried, cos am a bit of an emotional wreck most of the time.  That's me normal.  ANYWAY.  The chat from some folk off stage is fucking shite.  I mean seariously.  I have spent more time trying to justify why I am doing this to total strangers than I have talking about any sort of music.  So I found myself playing a gig last night with a wifey just SPEWING out industry 'stuff' to me.  People I should check out because they are amazing, people who just got signed cos they are amazing, artists on the same bill as me that I should be excited about because they are amazing.  All wrapped up in a big dollop of  self indulgent 'im in the industry but genuinely care about YOU' chat.  Hmmmmm...

It is excruciatingly boring to be on the recieving end of chat like that.  My inner voice is going mental at me for putting my ear drums through this traumatising ordeal.

So I have devised a plan.  Everyone come to my house ever Saturday night, I will give you two hours of music in exchange for you to PARTY THE NIGHT AWAY!  The more I do the more of you will hear about my musical parties and we will rock the fuck out until dawn.  None of us will ever become rich, or famous, or will ever find it acceptable to wear shades in doors, and we will laugh at all those other twats taking it all so fucking seriously.

Not everone is impressed with 'who you know' or record deals.  We are artists, let's talk about some art?

Okay I think I am done.  Comments below as usual if you'd like to pipe in!

Reading three blogs in one night is bleeding tiring, must keep up-to-date in future. Just to be clear I am bugger all to do with the music industry and know bugger all about music. I just love to hear live music performed well. I do enjoy talking to the artist after, but usually only to say how much I enjoyed their set and can I buy a CD....signed if possible. If you ever take your Saturday night party on a tour, let me know. I could probably round up a few mates and some alcohol, though not sure about partying ALL night, I'm getting old.

Hiya Marcus, I will lump my reply to all three into this here comment. I think you have a great way about you where you come across a real music lover. i notice your name on comments of muso friends, and people I know, people I have heard of and it's always the same. You are balanced in HOW you put your opinion across and I like that because you don't always agree. I am trying to be more like this. More balanced, it's effective communication. I like how involved you are! Thank you! and such a patient person, I am thinking back to when you bought my USB, remember I was so bad at getting it to you? That was SMACK BANG in the middle of the "ooops I think I might be homeless" (I wrote a blog about it a while back, on NY's day I think) time. Thanks for your patience, your understanding your TIME! If I am ever near your gaff I am coming round wif my mates for tea and whisky. IT'S HAPPENING! x

I did read your blog and felt really bad, there was I going on about a piffling USB stick, while you had major issues, if I'd have know I'd have STFU. That said you seem to be in a much better and secure place, so well done. As to being more balanced, it happened with age and hair loss, I used to be known as the 'honourary rottwieler' at the uni's rock and heavy metal society, now I'm a respectable middle aged man who listens to music where you can hear the lyrics, go figure. And if the balance don't come, screw it, your probably better off without. I have big respect for musicians because making music may as well be witchcraft to me, I see it being done, but haven't got a clue how it works. Anyway good luck, hope to hear more of your awesomeness soon.
